I've worked on thousands of cars And the sky starts staring as if I don't know what I'm doing he's nervous his eyes are wide open he's looking as if I'm going to break his car that I'm a scammer Like he's here to teach me a little lesson or something by staring me down And he's gonna teach them the mechanical lesson Because mechanics are scammers...... No 1 else has ever done this in over 10 years has to be a white person anyways as wheels are rusted solid and the parts don't even come off so no work could be done anyways..... What is psycho.... Even his wife came in the second car I wonder if she knows he's crazy.... The guy was older and had nice clothes too😢😢😢

    Maybe update your description to lead with the error you made. You were stubborn in expecting a translucent paint to hide a dark basecoat; stacking more translucence is not going to change the improper basecoat -- nothing's wrong with the paint, you just had the wrong expectations. I don't have a can in front of me, but the Rustoleum website highlights that Pearl Mist gives best results with several light coats "over a white or light surface". It looks like part of a learning experience for you, and that's invaluable -- don't get me wrong. But your conclusion that "expensive paint is a waste of money" is not supported. "Making painting mistakes can be expensive" is what's shown here. This video was a while ago, so I hope that you've since had some good experiences experimenting with primers and other translucent or pearlescent paints over different color basecoats. A favorite of mine is a translucent amber over silver metal flake.

    I have a 1980 Camaro that is in real good shape. And want to upgrade the 305 engine with an LS1 engine. That would be so cool to bring it to car shows! I saw a 1978 El Camino with an LS1 engine. SO I know it can be done. I lived in north Texas for over 20 years, and yes, I have heard lots of gun shots just like what we heard on this video.

    Hey great video but I will say one thing about what fd me … was the lifter bores … check them before assembling your motor !!! on a couple mine the hole had just a slight lip that u couldn’t really feel but the lifter was catching …they make a 200 $ tool u shoot this bell looking fitting through the hole and it just squares up the bore … makes them perfectly round again.

    Looks good! Time, money and patience. That's the package on these cars seems like. I haven't used Ospho brand personally, but I have used phosphoric acid. Clean Strip is a brand that is available at the big hardware stores. It's cheaper and I think a bit stronger. They use it for concrete etching. Cool part is it won't hurt the parent metal and just attacks the rust. Works like a champ. I haven't used Evaporust yet but I keep hearing good things about it. One of the cars I'm messing with was sandblasted by a previous owner then left to rust. Surface rust on the whole car. Just surface rust but needs to go. Pets are family. Hard deal when they get sick etc. Hang in there

    Well as a body man the lack of dinner is definitely going to be better the black dinners is the best way to go the acetone you want anyway cuz it's going to clean once you get all of its going to clean will the surface and take dirt and all different marks off but technically the best thing to use is you buy these cans it's called paint primer remover can you put that on it automatically Bubbles and rips it right off and it will not take the paint off your car lacquer dinners we used to use it in the paint shops all the time so you know it's very good for cleaning the guns out and the brushes but it actually will take paint off the car too if you have it in a spray bottle and you spray it really really good and this mess all the other areas of and soak it it's going to come right off but I had plexi dip on my car I put the kids the whole car with three coats and it was on there for 3 years but it'll look really nice that's how I got it off I had to use a heat gun I would let it be real hot outside and I use paint remover and lacquer thinners and it'll come right off

    theirs only 1 thing that ever bothered me when iv watched this video (1000 times) why would the oem pushrod be too long when the entire thing is a stock rebuild. Cam Lifters rockers ect. unless it was that tight from factory. anyone clear that up for me?

    • @TheDailyDrift
      @TheDailyDrift Місяць тому

      So I can’t remember what exactly I said in the video, but I believe it was because the stock pushrod for most LS engines is 7.400 but the 4.8 has a 7.385 as the original size. So sometimes if you just order a stock LS pushrod you’ll get a 7.400 instead of the 7.385. It’s always best to check the length you need just to be safe. Other factors could be if the block was decked or the cylinder heads are shaved. Most of the time the stock ones will still work, but it’s just good practice to check it. I helped my buddy do a swap a while back on his corvette and he bought all the parts and we put it all together without checking. We found out real quick what can happen if you don’t check it. The pushrods were too long and it slapped some valves on the first start. I should have insisted on checking the length but I wasn’t thinking because I didn’t buy the parts. Anyway, hope this helps clear things up a bit.

    Was looking through your other videos and was unable to find anything on how you removed the rear of the car. I can't seem to find any seams where the rear section can be removed, so did you just cut it off to be able to slide the pan in through the back?

    • @TheDailyDrift
      @TheDailyDrift Місяць тому

      So I ended up cutting up the rear quarters to save the light panel. My rear quarters were shot so I planned on removing them anyway. If you want to keep the quarters there are spot welds near the light panel that the quarters weld to. Sometimes they are covered by body filler and are hard to see. Hard to explain in text but there is a book on Amazon about all the spot weld locations. I think it’s $30, but it’s totally worth it if you’re doing a lot of work on these cars. Hope that helps.

The only difference with the Melling is that it doesn't have the little disc. Also, I needed to use a magnetic pick up tool to pull the plunger out because the factory oil inside formed a tight enough seal that I needed to overcome some vacuum as I pulled the plunger.
